What a top Bank Holiday Weekend !!! :) Two days of windsurfing left me knackered !!! so with not much wind forecast today it was time to pack a picnic and get the bikes out. We started off at midday and headed to the woods at The Grove which was very pretty as usual, then out onto Gulpher Lane to the farm track at Candlet Farm to Trimley. It was then down Cordys Lane all the way to the River Orwell at Trimley Marshes, there were loads of yachts out on the river making the most of the high tide and good breeze. We were going to stop for our picnic at our favorite bench overlooking Levington Bay but it was already taken :( so we continued on to Levington Marina passing Loompit Lake - spotting a young family of geese :) We stopped by the marina entrance for our chicken sandwiches. Saw Nick Icke in his new toy - an inflatable boat - leaving the marina going fishing! We chatted about where to head next and decided to go to see the bluebells at Bridge Wood, Orwell Meadows near the Orwell Bridge - Mag saw them when she biked here last week. We continued along the River path to Levington Creek - hearing our first cuckoo of the year :) Then it was out onto the Nacton Road all the way to the wood, which was stunning :) We then headed down a track coming out on the River Orwell just below the Orwell Bridge, biking along the beach we went under the bridge and up the other side and sadly went to Sports Direct at Ransomes Europark but had fun getting £140 worth of stuff for £50 and it all fitted in my rucksack !!! We then did the last ten miles on the road, arriving home knackered after 27 miles and over five hours in the saddle - top ride :)
